About Us
Porter Knight, LLC is owned and operated by partners Porter Knight (Certified Professional Organizer®) and Catherine Matosky (Certified Project Management Professional®). Porter and Catherine share a passion for productivity, practicality and balance. They’re both crazy mothers of boys, and both married to fabulously handsome men.
Porter Knight
Porter Knight founded Organized by Knight (now Porter Knight, LLC) in 1996 with the tagline "strategies to increase productivity." Back then, the concept of "Professional Organizer" was still foreign to most people.
Born with an abundance of confidence, Porter has learned over the years that she can (and loves to!) give it away.
"I believe in people’s ability to create change and to achieve their dreams. In every encounter with another human being, my goal is to leave that person with a greater sense of their own competence, to elevate their confidence by showing them their own capabilities."
Porter graduated from Middlebury College with a degree in Political Science. She worked for 7 years in the environmental field, establishing county-wide recycling programs and teaching waste reduction, composting, and use of alternatives to household hazardous products. After informally teaching organizing strategies to fellow students, co-workers, business colleagues, non-profit organizations, family and friends, she finally made it a business in 1996.
"I believe in my clients’ ability to decide."
Being organized isn’t a measurement of character, but of decision-making, and anyone can learn and practice decision-making skills.
"Being organized is the ability to find what you need when you need it, accomplish what you want to accomplish, and feel good about both."
It isn’t enough to just get a lot done - it has to have purpose, meaning, and balance.
"I love seeing clients achieve their dreams after shedding the burden of indecision and clutter."
It feels GOOD to decide. It is FUN to reassert yourself. And it is ENERGIZING to move forward. Organizing isn’t about being perfect, it is about movement in the direction you choose. And it is powerful!
Catherine Matosky
Catherine Matosky joined Porter Knight in the spring of 2009. Along with a love of helping others learn the skill of organizing, Catherine brings a wealth of project management and process design experience after spending more than 20 years in the medical software industry.
Throughout her career, all of Catherine’s roles have united her ability to manage multi-faceted projects and her desire to help others become successful, exercising her passion for organization, business process, and project management. Like Porter, Catherine believes that any one can learn and practice these skills.
"Good project management simply requires decision-making and organizing - it may appear overwhelming, but it can be accomplished through knowledge, careful planning, and easy to use processes. I enjoy teaching companies and individuals how to become more successful through improved productivity."
Catherine has been a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) since 2006. Prior to becoming a partner in Porter Knight, LLC, she held a variety of project manager positions, actively participated in a variety of workplace productivity trainings, and worked to educate colleagues and implement project management processes and tools.
"Creating efficient systems and process enables forward momentum and successful outcomes. Helping others achieve balance and flexibility in their life is immensely rewarding, and is part of what draws me to this work."
